A Therapeutic Approach

Are you a yoga practitioner?
Understanding why and how injuries can happen can help you prevent injury. This workshop will also teach you how to work with injuries when they do happen so you can keep your practice evolving.

Are you a yoga teacher?
This workshop will give you some tools to support your students when they are experiencing pain or injury. You will also gain a deeper understanding of the process of working with injuries so you can help students practice safely.


Course Description
As the number of yoga practitioners climbs, we are seeing a corresponding increase of yoga injuries. This course, Yoga Injuries Prevention and Management: A therapeutic Approach, looks at the most frequently injured areas to assess key movement patterns that are problematic and then establishes helpful movements for a healthy range of motion.

Your instructor — Olivier Charles — designed this workshop with an insightful blend of anatomy, physiology, yoga psychology and experienced teaching to provide tangible examples and practical tips for teaching.


What will you learn?

  • Dissecting the common injuries encountered around these anatomical regions: knees, hips and sacroiliac joint, spine and shoulders.

  • Anatomical connections between areas of strength, stability, and weakness within the context of commonly injured areas.

  • Designing a safer group class.

  • Teaching tips to support students navigating


Course Features

  • Course length: 2.5 hours of in person lecture and 1 hour of asana

  • Lectures based on anatomical areas (spine, sacroiliac joint, hips, shoulders and knees).

  • Cueing aligned with lectures.

  • An informative course handout
